Φ-week Bootcamp | November 11 – 13 | Rome
Data innovators interested in Earth Observation (EO), space, food and energy are invited to apply to the first ESA Φ-week Bootcamp to be held in Frascati (near Rome, Italy) on 11-13 Nov 2018.
This first Bootcamp event, hosted by the European Space Agency (ESA) as part of the ESA Φ-week (phiweek.esa.int, 12-16 Nov 2018), aims to develop new business ideas for Earth Observation (EO) applications addressing challenges in the food and energy sector.
In particular, the Bootcamp aims to bring together a mix of EO researchers, data scientists and innovators, non-space corporates, tech leaders, aspiring entrepreneurs, students and young professionals for an intensive 3-days event. Aspiring entrepreneurs with no space background are most welcome to attend. Participants will use creative methods based on design thinking to create new concepts regarding innovative EO-based applications addressing real problems of the food and energy sectors. Throughout the event a variety of resources will be made available to enable these ideas to be made into fully workable solutions. The teams will also work with expert mentors who will support them in developing viable business models. By the end of day 3 (13 Nov 2018), an expert jury will decide which innovative ideas, products and business models are the most promising. The best ideas will receive feedback to further develop into a more mature start-up plan.
Applications to the Bootcamp are now open until 15.08.2018, after which all applications will be reviewed and selected individuals will be invited via email.
