In innovative and uncertain market environments, it is usually not clear at the start of the project what the final product should look like in detail. Competition and markets change over time, and unpredictable obstacles or challenges can affect the product. Classic development methods such as the waterfall model usually fail here. Rather, iterative and flexible methods are needed that enable successive product development and adaptability. Scrum addresses these issues with an empirical approach: Development teams are empowered to respond flexibly and quickly to new needs. At regular intervals, executable and potentially marketable parts are created.

Dipl.-Kfm. Tim Neugebauer is Agile Coach, Scrum Trainer and Certified Scrum Master of the Scrum Alliance. As an expert in digital transformation, he has worked for public institutions, group companies and SMEs in the context of agile methods and the establishment of agile organizations for several years.
