# SGA19: Start Green Award seeks champions of the green startup scene

The StartGreen Award strengthens the founders of the green economy in Germany. He supports innovative start-ups and exemplary start-up sponsors in the field of climate protection and sustainability and makes them visible.
The leading startup award for sustainability solutions in Germany will be presented in 2019 for the fifth time in a row. The focus is on networking green start-ups, companies, investors, funding institutions and political pioneers for a green economy. The patron is Federal Environment Minister Svenja Schulze.
The StartGreen Award (SGA) will be awarded in four categories in 2019:
- Founding concepts (not yet founded)
- Start-ups (founded, 0 to 10 years)
- Future Mobility – powered by InnoEnergy (founded, 0-10 years)
- SDG 12: Circular Economy – powered by SDG-INVESTMENTS (founded, 0-10 years)
The green start-up community may decide by public voting who is worthy of an award. The final pitch before a specialist jury is about cash and prizes worth more than 60,000 euros.
All entries in the “Start-up” category also have the opportunity to qualify for the Cleantech Open Ideas Challenge in California. The international competition for companies in the cleantech sector will take place in 2020 in California (USA). The three selected winners of the German preselection are nominated for the final. In addition to travel expenses, the teams will also receive a coaching package and mentoring for the preparation of the competition as well as intensive on-site support. This prize is made possible by the main partner RKW Competence Center.
The award ceremony of the # SGA18 took place on 15 November 2018 at the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) in Berlin. There, the winners will also be announced this year as part of the founding week. Deadline is November 20, 2019.
